THE POLE NEWS

• «Aquatic Products of Tomorrow» Day

90 people travelled to Paris on 1st June, 2010 in order to «jointly reflect on the aquatic products of tomorrow» during the one day event organised by the Pole AQUIMER.  Company managers, researchers, government officials, shared out between three workshops, worked on how to optimise the promotion of co-products, food of the future and how to adapt businesses to the changes.

The syntheses of these lively exchanges enabled a shared prospective vision of the aquatic products sector to be established.

To begin the debates, Philippe Paquotte, responsible for setting up an economic observatory on aquatic products within the European Commission (DG Mare), shed light on consumption in the different countries.
Jacques Le Cardinal, Seafood Purchasing manager for Auchan France and Simply Market, delivered the group's vision of the future for aquatic products.

To end, Jean-Baptiste Delpierre and Thierry Missonnier, President and Director of the Pole respectively, reminded everyone that AQUIMER is a tool entirely at the service of businesses to help them to innovate.

• DGCIS "Ageing Population" Call for Proposals

In France, over a third of the population is today over 50. They will account for half of the French population in 2030.
These senior citizens have never been so well-off. Household expenditure today represents 48% of total consumer expenditure and 54% in 2015. However, the French offer does not always meet their expectations and needs.

The Ministry responsible for Industry wishes to encourage a national dynamics intended to sensitise businesses, and SMEs in particular, to the importance of this market and its needs and encourage them to innovate, to technological and non-technological plans, to design, create, manufacture and market products which are suited to this market. With this aim in mind, it has decided to launch a call for proposals whose objectives are:
    - to create the desire and the will of company managers and partners from outside the company to focus on this market,
    - to encourage businesses to begin a process intended to offer senior citizens products and services which meet their expectations and their needs,
    - to strengthen the cooperation of French businesses from different sectors and with outside support on themes which are specific to the senior citizen market,
    - to promote the transfer of good practices from one sector to the other.
